Una Lee White (age 84), a native of Centreville VA passed away peacefully February 3rd at home.
She was the daughter of the late Eldon E. and Eula V. Ehinger, nee Mohler. She was
predeceased by her only sister, Rita Koch and her son, Michael Makarczyk. She is survived by
her three daughters, Lori Roy, Cynthia Thomas and Susan Makarczyk as well as their children:
Matt, Dan, Tami and Luke Roy; Stanley and Kaye Thomas; Tom and Joe Manley and great-
grandchildren: Roman Roy, McKenna and Haley Roy and Mila Thomas.
Una, affectionately known as Gmom, was loved dearly by her grandchildren with whom she
was incredibly generous, whether at her beach house in Nags Head, her lake house at Lake
Anna, or her favorite place: home.
Una attended Fairfax County schools and graduated from Fairfax High School before heading to
William and Mary where she met and married John A. Makarczyk from Wilkes-Barre, PA.
The Makarczyk’s raised their four children in Surrey Square in Fairfax County where Una
excelled in civic service, The League of Women Voters, supporting swim team and local sports.
Una lent her gift of administration to both Tatum Properties of Springfield VA and her second
husband, Les White’s company, Events Analysis, as well serving as Treasurer of the League and
later the Election’s Officer.
Una loved a good debate, a crossword puzzle, her Great Books club, sitting by the ocean but
mostly her family who will miss her terribly.
A tribute to Una will be held in the Accotink room at Greensprings , Springfield on February 12 at 2 pm.
