Tom was a lifelong resident of Northern Virginia. He was born in Alexandria, VA, and lived in Woodbridge, VA for the past 27 years. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1970, served in the U.S. Army, and attended Northern Virginia Community College and George Mason University. Tom was a carpenter for much of his adult life.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Howard and Jennie Elizabeth Patterson Stewart, and his siblings Jennie Elizabeth Moss, David Patterson Stewart, and Sandra Jean Stewart.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Lori Lingo Stewart; siblings John T. Stewart (Suzanne), and Margaret Stewart. He is also survived by brothers-in-law John Moss, Michael (Jodi) Lingo, and Steven Lingo; nieces and nephews James (Amy) Moss, Beth (J.T. Kirkland) Moss, Jeremy Whistleman, Melissa Whistleman, Douglas (Michelle) Lingo, Dierdre (Phil) Young, Matthew Lingo, and Meaghan (Luke Kashdan) Lingo; many beloved great/grand nieces and nephews; cousins; and friends who are like family.
A celebration of Tom’s life will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023, noon-4 pm, Veteran’s Memorial Park Tent #1, 14300 Veterans Dr., Woodbridge, VA 22191.
