Robert Connolly

Robert Thomas “Bob” Connolly, 90, of Fort Belvoir, Virginia, passed away on March 8, 2022.
Bob was born on October 16, 1931, to Dorothy (Whitney) and Robert Joseph Connolly in Manhattan, NY.
At the age of 16, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and two years later married his childhood sweetheart Gladys LoPue. Together they had four children, Robert “Bobby,” Brian, Doreen, and Cheryl.
After retiring from both the U.S. Armed Forces and Federal Government, Bob enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing golf, traveling, and telling hilarious jokes.
Robert was predeceased by his loving wife Gladys of 47 years and eldest son Robert Connolly.
He is survived by his children, Brian (Kim) Connolly of Buena Vista, VA; Doreen (John) Chendorain of Arlington, VA; Cheryl Simpson of Woodbridge, VA; daughter-in-law Kay Connolly of Mascoutah, IL, and seven grandchildren, Ryan (Meilani) Connolly, Kristin (Clive Cullen) Connolly, Samantha Chendorain, Amanda Simpson, Alyson Simpson, Sean Connolly, and Trevor Connolly, as well as five great grandchildren.
U.S. Marine Corps Funeral Honors will be held at Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Rd. Triangle, VA 22172 on 3/25 at 11:30 a.m.
