Raquel Olavario Cuadro, 82, of Arlington, Virginia, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2026. Born in Guinobatan, Albay, Philippines on March 16, 1944, Raquel dedicated her life to her family, her faith, and the education and guidance of young people.
A devoted teacher and guidance counselor, Raquel touched countless lives throughout her career in the Ateneo de Manila University and other schools in Philippines before immigrating to
the United States in 1995. She brought care, patience, wisdom, and faith to her students, helping to shape and guide young minds with compassion and dedication.
Raquel’s faith was the foundation of her life. She was deeply devoted to our Lord, the Virgin Mary, and the teachings of St. Ignatius de Loyola. Her spirituality informed everything she did, from her work with students to the love she showed her family. She loved her family and the Lord with all her heart.
She is survived by her daughter, Celina Cuadro Malcolm; her son, Marco Juan Cuadro; and her beloved grandchildren, Brayden, Sebastian, and Lochlan. She joins her husband, Edgardo Cuadro, who preceded her in death in 2013.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 18, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at the Cathedral of St. Thomas More, 3901 Cathedral Lane, Arlington, VA 22203.
Raquel will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. May she rest in the peace of the Lord she served so faithfully.
