Collette M. Stafford, age 96, passed away peacefully Easter Sunday morning March 31, 2024 at the Heatherwood Retirement and Assisted Living Community in Burke, Virginia.
Collette was born on July 17, 1927 in Everson, Pennsylvania, a small coal town southeast of Pittsburgh. A few years later her father found better work in the steel mills of Baltimore and moved the family there. Collette spent much of her life in the Baltimore area where she attended school, married, and raised a family. In 1989 Collette and her husband, the late John G. Stafford, moved to Ocean View, Delaware, where they lived a quiet modest life together for many years before John’s passing in 2017.
Collette was predeceased by her husband, John, two sons, Bruce S. Stafford and Brian J. Stafford, her parents, Joseph and Pearl Bailor, four brothers and four sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Janice C. Wardyga, and son, John G. Stafford, Jr, six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Collette will be interred with her husband, John, in a private ceremony at the Delaware Memorial Veterans Cemetery Columbarium in Millsboro, Delaware.
God grant Collette’s last request for her spirit to be reunited with those of her beloved sons, Bruce and Brian, in the Hereafter.
