With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Cameron Mitchell Van Vleet, aged 27 years, from Fairfax, Virginia. He passed away peacefully on Friday, February 28, 2025, at INOVA Fairfax Hospital with family at his side, ending his struggle with a rare and very aggressive form of testicular cancer diagnosed 5 months prior.
Cameron was born April 25, 1997 in Silver Spring, Maryland, to Margery and David Van Vleet. He is survived by his parents, sister Tessie, and long-time girlfriend Claudia Lescano. The family moved to Fairfax, VA in March, 1999 where Cameron spent his childhood years. He graduated from WT Woodson High School in June, 2015.
As a young child, he loved sports, including swimming, soccer, gymnastics, skateboarding, football and
flag football. A competitive mindset was engrained in him and his wrestling in high school was
enthralling. His teen years were often tumultuous due to his fierce independence and mission to find his
own way. At the time of his death, he had found his path and was living a good and less volatile life in
Lorton, Virginia.
Cameron had an adventurous soul and an entrepreneurial spirit. He created and ran several businesses
during his short life. People often admired and commented on his great work ethic and dedication to
success. The focus was always on the business and the plans to grow and maintain it. The businesses
usually were the lead topic in a conversation with him.
Charisma and charm defined Cameron’s personality. He smiled with his whole face and would light up
the entire room! He could talk to anyone about anything and was instantly liked, instilling trust and
confidence. His willingness to take a risk, along with an analytical and logical mind, enabled him to
assess and resolve most any situation. He experienced more in his 27 years than many people do in a
long lifetime. His family and friends will miss him dearly.
May Cameron’s memory be a blessing to all who knew him. A Celebration of Life will be held at a private
home in Fairfax, VA on Friday, March 14 from 4 to 6 PM. If you would like to attend, please contact the
family for the address. The family requests that anyone who wants to honor Cameron make a donation
to the INOVA Schar Cancer Center, which was instrumental in Cameron’s treatment https://join.inova.org/cancerservices
