for Timothy James O’Donnell
Timothy James O’Donnell, 69, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March
16, 2022.
Tim was born on April 7, 1952, and lived his entire life in Northern Virginia. He
was a gifted mechanic, fixing cars and trucks, and running his own trucking
business hauling dirt and asphalt for construction and road building projects. He
loved oldies music from the 1950’s and 60’s, swing dancing, and was a regular at
“GottaSwing” dance events at the Dulles Hilton. He enjoyed travel and early in
his trucking career drove his own tractor-trailer to 48 states. He was proud to
obtain a pilot’s license, and received national attention for safely landing his
plane on Interstate 95 during rush hour in Richmond, Virginia, after running out of
fuel during a solo training flight. Tim still continued to run his own trucking
business, even while battling cancer for almost five years.
He is survived by 10 siblings, Mary Beth, Dorothy (Steve), Jack (Lynn), Denny
(Shirley), Mike, Chris (Debbie), Patty (Richard), Mark (Susan), Regina (John),
and Ellen (David), and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
His family thanks Crystal Gardens Assisted Living for the highly professional and
loving care they provided during Tim’s last two months of life.
