Remembering Tal Donavon Moore
It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our loved one and friend, Tal Donavon Moore, 59, on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at his home in Alexandria, Virginia, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Tal was known for his unwavering passion for people, community, and purpose. His professional journey spanned over three decades across healthcare, hospitality, tribal government, and education. He held leadership roles at the Falmouth Institute, REDW, and within several tribal organizations including the Kalispel Tribe, Navajo Nation’s Fort Defiance Indian Hospital, and Sandia Pueblo and National Native American Human Resources Association (NNAHRA).
Tal’s service to the NNAHRA left a lasting imprint. As President from 2009–2015, and most recently as the Director of Development for the NNAHRA Foundation, he expanded opportunities for professional growth and elevated the visibility of tribal human resources across the country. In 2018, Tal was honored as NNAHRA’s Leader of the Year, a fitting recognition for someone who lifted every room with his warmth, insight, and ever-present encouragement.
Born on April 25, 1965, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Tal is remembered as an inspirational, warm-hearted leader with a great sense of humor. He earned his degrees from University of Central Missouri and Webster University. Outside of his profession, Tal loved to travel and treasured every moment with his family.
Tal was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, mentor, and friend. Tal is survived by his husband and partner of 28 years, Clifford “Darin” George, and their son, Sean Seymour; his mother Catherine Marie Moore of Kingsville, Missouri; and his sisters Shanan Smith of O’Fallon, Missouri, Stacy O’Hare of Kingsville, Missouri, and Lindsey Bush of Missouri and eight nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Orville Moore, and nephew, Turner George.
Tal believed in the power of people. His legacy lives on through the communities and organizations he served, the generations he has inspired, the family he cherished, and the joy he brought to each day.
Private services will be held, and a Celebration of Life will be announced later this summer. Tal will be laid to rest in Chilhowee, Missouri.
