Michael Gravino was born on July 23, 1950 in New Haven, CT to Michael Gravino and Mary Zompetti Gravino. He was the oldest of 2 children, brother to late Jennifer Johnson. After High School, Michael enlisted in the Army during the Vietnam War and served in intelligence. He briefly lived in Ethiopia before moving to Oregon and starting a recycling company called Garbagio. Michael was a huge advocate for solving environmental issues and actively pursued ways to help rather than harm. As of late, he was residing in Washington, DC where he ran the LPTV Rights Coalition and fought for the rights of small station owners nationally.
As a man of many adventures he was the most extroverted and gregarious person anyone would have ever known, making friends everywhere. He was quirky, innovative, optimistic – and always on the lookout for the next great opportunity. He lived a full life and was always brimming with ideas and excitement. He is survived by partner Vicki Lancaster and her son Darwin; his 2 nieces Mary Zompetti and Catherine Sanford and 2 great nephews Connor and Corey Sanford.
