Those of us in Indian Country called Maria a friend and advocate for tribal sovereignty. She helped educate TSA staff in our Tribal I.Ds and sacred items. Over my time I had to call her and send her many a report when TSA would not accept my Tribal I.D or implied bias would occur with unnecessary pat downs. She would always take it seriously and make sure that education and training would occur. Her passing will truly be a loss to myself and other members in Indian Country
