In the twilight of a November eve, Guy Stephen Thompson, a soul of loving countenance, courageous spirit, and intelligence most profound, did from this earthly stage depart. Born under the wintry sky of 1969 in Fayetteville, North Carolina, and breathing his last in the autumnal grace of Arlington, Virginia, on the fourteenth day of November in 2024, Guy’s journey through the ages was a tapestry of joy and fellowship.
He, a man of noble heart and learned mind, was wed to the gentle Tracey Thompson, his devoted wife and confidante. Together they brought forth Hayden, a son of vigor and virtue. In the dance of life’s complexities, Guy embraced his role as a patriarch, with the loving stepchildren Levert, Leoloy, Jose, and Emma Olmedo joining the familial symphony, and eventually welcoming ten grandchildren. Patricia Choat, his mother; Loren O’Brian, a niece of mirth; Kevin Thompson, a nephew of valor; and Sandra Fabbri, a sister-in-law of steadfast bond, all doth share in the legacy of his days.
Guy’s quest for knowledge led him through the hallowed halls of academia, where he acquired the wisdom of a certified paramedic and the mastery of numerous IT Certifications. His vocation as a government worker and contractor was marked by the same passion and dedication that he bestowed upon his kin and interests.
An avid Trekkie and Trekker, he sailed the vast cosmos of science fiction, exploring the dunes of Arrakis, the timeless voyages of Doctor Who, and the heroic sagas of the Marvel pantheon. With the roll of a die, he summoned worlds of fantasy as a Dungeon Master, weaving tales of adventure and camaraderie. In quieter moments, he found mirth and marvel scrolling through the tapestries of TikTok, a bard of the digital age.
To speak of Guy is to call forth the words of the great poet John Milton, who once penned, “Good, the more communicated, the more abundant grows.” Indeed, Guy’s goodness was a light that, once shared, did only amplify in the hearts of those he touched.
As we bid farewell to Guy Stephen Thompson, let us not don the robes of sorrow, but rather celebrate the stage upon which he played his part with such fervor and grace. For in the grand narrative of life, he was a character most beloved, a spirit undaunted by the trials of his time, and a mind ever reaching for the stars. In the echoes of his laughter and the wisdom of his words, he doth live on, a beacon unto us all. A Celebration of his life will be held on the 8th of December, 2024 at 2pm.
