






Deana Marie Taylor passed away peacefully on April 28, 2021 at Fairfax Hospital. Dee (the former Donna Gene Funk)
was an Alexandria, Virginia native graduating from Edison High School in Alexandria. Her artistic
talents led her to Virginia Commonwealth University where she graduated near the top of her class
with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. She worked as a freelance graphic designer after college.
Deana was a life-long athlete with letters in three sports in high school and a member of her
college volleyball team. After college, she continued to participate in sports and, throughout her
adult life, played in county volleyball leagues, soccer leagues and finally, club and
United States Tennis Association leagues. She is the daughter of the late Laurel Lee Funk and
stepfather Robert F. Funk and is survived by beloved husband Edward Kent Taylor, and nephews
Al Colby IV, Kelly Colby, Alex Colby , Aaron Colby and Henry Teal and nieces Jennifer Teal and Eva Teal
and cousins Ron Barr, Barrie Culver and Michael Gautier.
